Budgam, Sep 8: The road to Tosamaidan in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district is in shambles while the promises of the government to develop it as one of the leading tourist destinations is still a distant dream.
Local residents said that the road leading to Tosamaidan is completely in shambles for the last one decade, adding that the then government had announced plans to develop the area as a tourist destination.
“However, even the first step towards developing the area as a tourist destination is yet to be taken,” they said. “It sans road connectivity and no initiative has been taken to develop the road to connect the area.”
Locals said that the UT government has always ignored their problems.
“Construction of this road which was started in 2008 is still incomplete due to which people are facing a lot of difficulties,” they said.
Locals said that the condition of the road is so bad that it has become difficult for vehicles and locals to travel.
“If this road will get repaired and macdamised, it will be a big relief for the people and will also attract tourists towards Tosamaidan,” they said.
The locals demanded that the 10 kilometre stretch from Satharan to Tosamaidan should be macadamised without any delay.
“We urge the authorities to develop road connectivity within shortest span of time,” they said.
