Baltal, Jul 5: In a heart-warming display of service and devotion, hundreds of langars have been set up at the Baltal base camp to provide round-the-clock food, shelter, medical assistance and other essential services to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims.
These langars—community kitchens run by various religious and social organizations—are not only feeding thousands of devotees every day but also offering free lodging, washrooms, and resting areas. The collective efforts have turned Baltal into a hub of care and hospitality for the yatris.
“We are very happy with the services provided by the langars here at Baltal. The food is delicious, and we feel at home,” said a devotee, expressing gratitude for the arrangements.
The langar owners have gone a step further by ensuring hygienic and well-lit facilities.
A group of langar organizers said, “We installed our stall on the 13th, and our main langar is at Rail Patri. We have also made good lighting arrangements for the safety and convenience of pilgrims.”
Vikas Sharma from Delhi, who runs a langar at the base camp, shared, “We have been setting up this langar for the past 19 years at Baltal. Every pilgrim is welcome to have food and shelter here—free of cost. This is our service to Baba Amarnath.”
The Shiv Gauri Sewa Mandal Delhi Tiranga Bhandara has also been a significant contributor, continuing their service at Baltal for 19 years and extending it to the Neelgrath Helipad area for the past 4 years.
Another langar owner from Haryana added, “Sometimes we install our stall at Baltal, sometimes at Chandanwari. This time we’re fortunate to serve at Baltal again. The security and administrative arrangements are excellent. Pilgrims must ensure they follow all the guidelines issued for their own safety.”
The synergy between local authorities, volunteers, and sewa organizations has made the 2025 Yatra smooth and spiritually uplifting, with langars at its heart—serving not just meals, but compassion. (KNO)
