Sakeena Itoo visits GMC Baramulla

Ganderbal, Jul 9: Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan Wednesday conducted an extensive visit to key locations along the Amarnath Yatra route to review the transport arrangements and coordination among various agencies.
He was accompanied by ARTO Ganderbal and other field officials.
The visit included inspections at Baltal, the base camp at Domail and a high-level review meeting with key stakeholders, including SSP Traffic (Rural), Camp Director Domail, OC Beacon and officials of the SSB.
The focus of the meeting was to streamline the vehicular movement, ensure road safety, monitor transport operations and enhance inter-agency coordination for benefit of the pilgrims.
At Baltal, the Transport Commissioner reviewed free transport services being provided to pilgrims. He interacted with the drivers and instructed them to prioritize safe, disciplined and comfortable travel for all the pilgrims. He also received positive feedback from the pilgrims, many of whom expressed satisfaction with the transport facilities and services being made available during the Yatra.
He also visited the Weighing Bridge at Sonamarg, where he directed the ARTO Ganderbal to submit a comprehensive proposal for modernization of the facility. This included integration of advanced monitoring gadgets and provision of adequate accommodation and infrastructure for the staff working at the site.
The Transport Commissioner emphasized the need for sustained vigilance, coordination and public service commitment to ensure continued success of the Yatra operations.
