‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ launched at Budgam

Budgam, Jul 29: In a step aimed at eliminating tuberculosis (TB) from the district, ‘TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ was formally launched in Budgam Monday under the chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, who also serves as the Chairman of the District Health Society Budgam.
The campaign, aligned with the national objective of making India TB-free by 2025, aims to strengthen early diagnosis, promote complete treatment, and intensify public awareness across the community. The slogan of the campaign was ‘TB Harega, Desh Jeetega.’
On the occasion, the DDC emphasised the importance of collective grassroots efforts to combat TB. He said, “The fight against TB requires not just medical intervention but also strong community participation. Through this campaign, we aim to promote early diagnosis, complete treatment, and awareness to eliminate both the disease and the stigma attached to it.”
The campaign involved rallies for vibrant awareness, carried out by enthusiastic students from various schools, who marched through the main areas of the town carrying placards, banners, and raising slogans to educate the public on TB symptoms, prevention, and the need for completing the full course of treatment.
IEC- health vehicles from RBSK (Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram were innovatively decorated with eye-catching IEC materials in local languages. The material consisted of posters and banners detailing TB symptoms, transmission modes, and treatment protocols. Health vehicles were also equipped with public address systems broadcasting educational audio messages as they traversed through various towns and villages, ensuring that the campaign’s message reaches remotest corners of the district.
DDC said, focus of the Abhiyan will be on, Active Case Finding (ACF) for early TB detection, nutritional support and care for TB patients, Public-Private partnership under the Nikshay Mitra initiative, destigmatisation and community-based awareness campaigns etc
He called for a unified effort to eradicate TB from Budgam, adding, “Let us all work together to build a healthy and TB-free Budgam”.
Besides CMO, all BMOs, TB officer and other Health officers, school students participated in TB Mukt Abhiyan.
