Why to focus on commoners only?

The administration is taking stringent action against the common people for violating the set Covid norms in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley. From the last couple of days, the administration is enforcing Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) strictly in order to prevent the cases from spreading as Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K is witnessing surge in the Covid daily cases compared to other districts of the Valley. However, one fails to understand why the administration is focussed on the commoners only. It has been witnessed that a large number of people participating in the political rally in which a political leader addressed them. In the rally, the people were seen flouting the norm especially keeping social distancing and other guidelines, which gives an impression that the Covid spreads only due to the norm violation by commoners. One fails to understand how will the administration be able to prevent the cases when it is not bothered to prevent the large gatherings like that held recently. The need of the hour is to understand the seriousness of the situation irrespective of his/her position and other things. The government must ensure that the CAB is followed in spirit by one and all. Besides, no one must be allowed to flout the norms and strict action must be taken against all those who are found doing away with the norms.
