Gender discrimination is something we all have been facing since childhood. When I say discrimination, I don’t mean that boys and girls are physically equal. Discrimination is something that can pull you back to zero when you are at the top of your life because it’s something which targets your physical, mental, and emotional health. As a fan of reading, writing, and observing things, I can write a book on such themes. But every time, I will start with something that I have faced myself. I got to know about gender discrimination when I observed that my close ones keep clearing out thing that girls and boys are equal, but at the end of the day, they expected more from boys and less from girls. We all feel that the idea of gender discrimination is fading in our society, but the reality is that deep down, it’s still there.
When I say discrimination, I point out towards the smile that parents have when a boy is born in their family. When I say discrimination, I point out towards the extra love that parents show to their sons. We all know that our society is trying so hard to adopt western culture, and I am definitely not against it. But my only question is, why is our society still not able to accept this thing that boys and girls are equal? I can’t end this discrimination in one go, but the most important thing that I believe is education.
Educate your daughters, sisters, and wives because that’s something which helps women in a lot of things. We all have seen that men beat their wives after marriage, but they always choose silence instead of taking any action. And I used to keep thinking about the reason for their silence until I found that if they will take any action, there would be no one to fulfill their financial needs. At that point of time, I realized the value of being financially independent. Right now, I am writing about a problem which is gender discrimination, and the solution for it would be education , to make our society educated. And when I say education, I definitely don’t mean literacy.
Now it’s time to talk about another face of discrimination which is faced by boys. It might sound a little bit strange because whenever we hear the word discrimination, we label it as boys are superior and girls are inferior. Do you know that in our society, it’s believed that boys don’t cry? Now just imagine how hard it is to hide your emotions when you are having tons of responsibilities on your shoulders. Boys are often labeled as earners in our society, but how strange it is, for boys it sounds like discrimination, and for girls it sounds like an achievement.
Now, coming back to the theme, gender discrimination is a crime. I have discussed some very horrible things till now which trigger a person’s mental, emotional, and physical health. So this point is as clear as water that when you ruin someones mental peace, you are committing a crime. And there is no chance that we should normalize such kind of things.
Crime can be done in many ways (robbery, murder, etc.) But one of the most horrible way to commit a crime is to ruin someone’s mental peace. And the most highlighted example of it is gender discrimination. Our society believes that gender discrimination is just their ideology, but they forget that sometimes a person’s ideology can become a crime also. As a student, I can’t take any strong action, but right now, my biggest power is my pen. I can just hold my pen and write about my ideas, and I can just keep waiting for the moment when I will be able to spread my ideas to our society.
