Kupwara, Sep 27: Stating that the mindset of an individual is more important, the UPSC qualifier from northern district of Kupwara Monday said that he failed to make it in the first two attempts but he continued his efforts and cracked the most important exams in the country in his third attempt.
Iqbal Rasool Dar, a resident of Jagerpora village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district recently qualified for the prestigious UPSC examination 2021.
Iqbal said that he attained primary schooling in the hometown Handwara and secondary and higher education at Srinagar and then moved to Pune for further studies
He said that during the study of master of Political science he was preparing for the civil services as well and it began in the year 2017.
“I couldn’t make it to the selection list in the first two attempts while in the third attempt, I was able to finally make it among the UPSC qualifiers,” beamed Iqbal.
Stating that the examination is difficult, he said that it takes time to qualify for this prestigious exam since one doesn’t know about it in the very first attempt
“I’m glad that I made it this year and in case I would have failed this year again, I would have been felt very hurt”, he said.
About the aspiring UPSC candidates, Iqbal said that they must choose their strongest field as their optional so that it helps them and must have a stronghold on the essay writing besides analyzing the weak areas very keenly.
“They must try previous papers very regularly and checkout their weak areas so that they can overcome them well in time besides they can get great help from platforms like a YouTube”, Iqbal said.
About the coaching important for aspirants, he informed that he got coaching at New Delhi which was free from the government and the requirement of coaching depends on the individual and still there are a lot of avenues available with the government like that of Minority Affairs Ministry.
He said that aspirants must avail different avenues available and the opportunities provided to them by the government and different Non-Government Organisations which is important
About the preparation for the UPSC, Iqbal said that they must enjoy their teenage and not go for it very early rather start the basics from the last year of graduation so that it becomes easy for them
“We have great quality education even in Kashmir as well and there is not much difference between the valley and outside while all of it depends on an individual”, the UPSC qualifier said.
“There must be a less disturbing and more enabling atmosphere for study and there are more certain things more important and they are irrespective of the place”, Iqbal further said.
About those who failed to qualify, he said that this must not de-motivate them rather give their best and try to improve from the weak areas since everyone has to witness the loss at first and give best in the next attempt.
