ACB traps, arrests Patwari in Sopore for accepting bribe

Srinagar, Sep 29: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday said that it trapped and arrested a Patwari for accepting bribe in Duroo area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district
In a statement, a spokesperson said that ACB trapped and arrested a Patwari, Ghulam Mustafa Lone of Halqa Duroo Sopore for accepting bribe for issuance of documents pertaining to inheritance
“ACB received a complaint through its helpline alleging therein that the Patwari is demanding illegal gratification for issuance of documents pertaining to transfer of ancestral land. The complainant alleged that the Patwari was approached by the complainant and his brothers and sisters umpteen times for documents pertaining to inheritance, but the said patwari demanded Rs. 15000/- for issuance of these documents,” the statement reads.
It reads that after negotiating, the concerned Patwari settled for Rs. 5000 as illegal gratification.
“On the receipt of the complaint, Case FIR No. 10/2021 was registered in Police Station ACB Baramulla U/s 7 P.C ACT 1988 and investigation taken up,” it reads.
It reads that during the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted. “The trap team laid a successful trap and caught the patwari red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe money from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by the ACB Team,” it reads.
The statement reads that further investigation into the case is going on. (KNO)
