Lt Governor’s vision is to transform skill, technical education as per NEP: Bhatnagar

Awantipora, Oct 6: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar Wednesday inaugurated three-day International Workshop on ‘Bridging Excellence in Cardiac Nursing Practice’ on the occasion of Annual Day celebrations of Syed Mantaqi Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology, a constituent college of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) here.
Speaking during the inaugural session of the workshop, Advisor Bhatnagar lauded the role of frontline professionals, especially nurses towards the healthcare services specially during the challenging COVID’19 pandemic
Advisor Bhatnagar added that the role of nurses was amplified during COVID-19 and they also at times provided much needed emotional support to the patients.
The Advisor in his speech also appreciated the growth of IUST and expressed confidence that the University would do even better in the future. He added that the university has a lot of potential in delivering quality technical and skill education
The Advisor in his address remarked that the vision of Lieutenant Governor is to have a transformation in the education and skilling sector keeping in mind the new education policy. He added that the government will facilitate the University for developing centres of excellence.
Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo in his address emphasized the role of nurses with their human capital as they collaborate with a healthcare team to effectively perform treatments and medical procedures. He added that health issues in general and cardiovascular in particular is among the major challenges that the world is presently facing and the task to tackle such issues is to identify the role of youth and students in understanding & tackling these issues.
He further said that Nurses should be well versed with the technicalities in addition to their humane touch and IUST could take lead in providing capacity building opportunities to professional from this field. He added that IUST is making successful attempts in creating a state-of-the-art infrastructure for developing collaborations with important institutions of national repute.
The VC said that IUST has made appreciable effort in health sector especially during the covid pandemic, which is evident from the fact that the university developed frugal ventilator RUHDAAR and splitters during covid pandemic.
Former HOD Department of Cardiology, SKIMS, Dr. Khursheed Aslam who was the keynote speaker during the inaugural session deliberated on the Cardiac Health amid Covid Pandemic with special emphasis upon the role of healthcare professionals especially during the emergency situations like COVID’19.
Among others, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. A H Moon and Registrar IUST Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Principal of the college Asmat Parveen, faculty of the institute, students and others were present on the occasion.
During the workshop a souvenir was also released by Advisor Bhatnagar on the occasion besides awarding the position holders.
