Jammu, Feb 3: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a committee for examination, consolidation and submission of project proposals related to disaster management under the SASCI additional allocation, as per a government order issued by the General Administration Department.
According to Government Order No. 146-JK(GAD) of 2026, dated February 3, the committee has been formed to scrutinise proposals submitted by various departments seeking additional allocation earmarked by the Government of India for the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in the Union Territory.
As per the order, the Administrative Secretary of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction will head the committee as its chairperson. The panel will also include the Director General Budget and Director General Resources from the Finance Department as members.
In addition, representatives from the Revenue Department and the Public Works Department, not below the rank of Special Secretary, have been included as members of the committee.
The terms of reference assigned to the committee include examining project proposals submitted by different departments to ensure that they align with the objectives of the additional allocation. The panel has also been tasked with prioritising proposals before forwarding them to the Finance Department for onward submission to the Government of India through the PFMS portal for approval.
The order has been issued with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor and has been signed by the Commissioner Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department.
Officials said the move aims to streamline the process of project submission and ensure effective utilisation of funds allocated for disaster management and related works in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
