Budgam, Oct 9: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza Saturday chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of the arrangements to be put in place during the ensuing winter season.
During the meeting, the DDC emphasized on readying men and machinery to ensure timely redressal of weather vagaries and subsequent interruptions of supply of water, electricity and road closure due to snowfall during the winter months.
The DDC was instructed to formulate a Joint Action Plan (JAP) by all concerned Departments in advance to mitigate any crisis or emergency like situation during winters.
He stressed concern to ensure hassle free supply of essential services to the general public and instructed that reaction time should be minimized while facing any emergency like situations.
The CMO Budgam, apprised the chair regarding the availability of medicine and informed that sufficient stock of free drugs, emergency medicine, ambulance services, central heating system shall be made available for hospitals in the winter season.
Ex. Engineer MED revealed that machines are at disposal for snow clearance. Snow cutters and JCBs shall be deployed at various locations of District in advance to meet any exigency arising out of heavy snowfall, the DDC said.
The DDC directed AD, FCS&CA to ensure winter stocking is done by the end of the ongoing October month to avoid crisis or supply shortages of ration and other essential commodities caused by Highway closure due to heavy snowfall.
The DDC said that, to ensure uninterrupted power supply, additional transformers, poles and conductors shall be procured by PDD and stored as buffer stock. Branch cutting of trees should be completed by the end of this month, the DDC instructed.
Similarly, Ex. Engineer PHE was instructed to dump stock of pipes in advance in various areas of the District to ensure continuous water supply.
The DDC exhorted all concerned to execute a joint action plan effectively and coordinate with others to mitigate any challenge arising out of inclement weather.
The meeting among others was attended by CPO, CMO, Executive Engineers of PDD, R&B, PHE, ARTO and other officers and officials concerned.
