M A Shah urges J&K Govt to extend power bill amnesty scheme

Srinagar, Mar 30: BJP State Executive Member Mohammad Amin Shah has urged the Jammu & Kashmir Government and the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to extend the amnesty scheme for settlement of long-pending electricity bills, citing growing public distress.
Shah said that multiple delegations from different areas approached him with grievances over accumulated power dues, requesting immediate intervention. Raising the issue strongly, he stated that the common people are facing severe financial pressure and are unable to clear outstanding bills in one go.
Calling for a pragmatic and people-centric approach, he appealed to the administration to extend the amnesty window and introduce an easy instalment-based repayment mechanism to facilitate consumers.
He further asserted that extending the amnesty would not only provide relief to economically strained households but also ensure better recovery of pending revenues for the government, thereby creating a balanced and sustainable solution to the issue.
