Karnah, April 16: A young driver was killed in a road accident near Semari Army Post in Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.
The accident occurred when a Maruti Suzuki vehicle bearing registration number JK04A-9283 lost control near Semari while traveling from Teetwal towards Seemari, according to reports.
The vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.
The driver, identified as Zameer Ahmad Dar, son of Gayas-ud-din Dar, a resident of Upper Neechiyan Karnah, sustained critical injuries in the incident.
Police and local residents rushed to the spot soon after the accident and shifted him to Sub-District Hospital Karnah for treatment.
He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, reports said. [KNT]
