Srinagar, Jun 5: A non-local labourer was killed in a leopard attack in the Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Harish Chander (45), son of Kashi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, who was working at a brick kiln located at Baput, Beerwah, owned by Mohd Altaf Thoker.
A police official confirmed the incident, and said that the labourer came under attack by a leopard and his body was later found at a short distance from the brick kiln.
A police team from Budgam rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and took possession of the body.
The body was shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident, while wildlife authorities are expected to assess the situation and take necessary measures in the area. (KDC)
