Intensify precise, high-impact anti-terror operations: Lt Governor

Srinagar, Aug 1: A day after two Chattisgarh labourers were killed in a terror attack at Kelam, Kulgam in South Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday directed all the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to conduct a comprehensive review of the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) established to protect labourers from outside Jammu Kashmir.
Chairing a high-level security review meeting here, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, “We must intensify precise, high-impact anti-terror operations to neutralise the terrorists.”
The meeting was attended by Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary; Nalin Prabhat, DGP; Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary Home Department; S.J.M.Gillani, Special DG Coordination PHQ; Nitish Kumar, ADGP, CID; M Raju, Commissioner/Secretary, GAD; IGPs; Divisional Commissioners; SSPs, Deputy Commissioners and other senior officials.
Besides directing the DCS and SSPs to conduct a comprehensive review of the SoPs established to protect laborers from outside Jammu Kashmir, Sinha also directed that the employers must ensure all workers from other states and UTs of the country are provided insurance and that their details are registered with local police and district authorities.
He instructed the authorities to ensure dignified last rites for the victims of the Kulgam terror attack and to provide all the support to bereaved families.
The meeting also discussed the security arrangements in place for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and strengthening of the security grid.
Pertinently, soon after the terror attack on Friday Sinha had spoken with the Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat and top security officials. He had directed the security forces to step up their operations and eliminate the terrorists.
The Lieutenant Governor wrote on X: “I spoke with the DGP, Shri Nalin Prabhat and top security officials following the brutal terrorist attack in Kulgam in which a labourer from Chhattisgarh was killed. I strongly condemn this cowardly act. I have directed our security forces to step up their operations and eliminate the terrorists.”
“My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. J&K administration and the entire nation stand with the families,” Sinha wrote. (KNO)
