PIB Srinagar conducts virtual IMPCC meeting

Srinagar, Oct 27: An online meeting of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), consisting of various units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), was organised by Press Information Bureau (PIB) Srinagar today.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Director General (Region) PIB, Yogesh Baweja and the proceedings were conducted by Deputy Director (Media & Communications), PIB Srinagar Ghulam Abbas. Representatives of various MIB units and other related departments functioning in different parts of J&K also attended the meeting.
Welcoming the participants, Baweja said that different media units under MIB have been regularly disseminating information about the ongoing vaccination drive and Covid Appropriate Behaviour. He appreciated the synergy of media departments especially in view of the recent parliamentarian visits to the Union territory.
Addressing the participants, Ghulam Abbas highlighted the importance of coordination between various media units and added that inputs shared amongst all the units will help in disseminating vital information among people. He thanked DIPR and other media units for proper coordination in connection with the coverage of different Union Ministers’ visits to J&K.
Director Programmes, DDK Srinagar Naseeb Singh Manhas informed the participants that the Kendra has been successful in covering the visits of the dignitaries to Jammu and Kashmir. He said that besides carrying out its routine activities of Covid awareness, DD has been airing patriotic programs by bringing Kashmiri poets on-board. He added that DD has also taken an initiative of reviving traditional folk format Bande Pathir.
Presenting an overview of the activities, Joint Director Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) J&K, Ms Neha Jalali highlighted the various initiatives taken by the department throughout Jammu and Kashmir. She said that ROB has undertaken various field activities with respect to healthcare, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Poshan Abhiyan and also collaborated in Himalayan Film Festival in Ladakh and installed wall paintings in Kargil, Leh and other districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Director, Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) JK, Mridu Salathia presented an overview of the activities of DIPR. Expressing gratitude to PIB, DDK and AIR for the successful coordination to cover the events of Union Ministers, she said that DIPR is actively participating with the department of tourism for highlighting different activities to boost tourism sector in J&K. She said that DIPR has taken initiatives to highlight centrally sponsored schemes through different programs by focussing on various success stories.
Deputy Director News, Regional News Unit Jammu Ramesh Raina said that AIR and DD Jammu have extensively covered the visits of Union Ministers to J&K. He said that both the units have covered different programs on Covid awareness, Mask up India and Iconic Week Celebrations.
Media and Communications Officer, PIB Srinagar Majid Pandit briefed the participants about the initiatives undertaken by the Bureau with respect to Union Governments Outreach program and said that the department also carried out awareness initiatives on its social media platforms for wider reach. He emphasised upon the continuous synergy between various media departments in order to achieve the efficient message delivery to the people.
News Editor, Regional News Unit AIR Srinagar, Ishfaq Shah said that besides covering the events of public outreach programs, the unit has highlighted programmes like Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and other people centric initiatives of the Central Government. He appreciated the concerted efforts of different media departments including DIPR, AIR, DD, and RoB for proper information dissemination.
Media and Communication Officer, PIB Jammu Sheikh Mudasir Amin said that the unit has covered the visits of Union Ministers and also conducted webinars on different themes. He said that the unit has arranged to provide wide coverage to Cabinet Decisions and also participated in Himalayan Film Festival.
