Kulgam, Aug 20: Police have registered a case over an alleged racket involving printing and sale of OPD tickets to patients in Kulgam, with computers and laptops seized as part of the investigation.
The alleged irregularities reportedly involve an outside hospital pharmacy and clinical laboratory, with police investigating the circumstances under which the tickets were printed and sold.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kulgam, Dr Masood said that some persons allegedly printed OPD tickets at their private clinics and sold them to poor patients.
“Some miscreants with nefarious designs printed the tickets at their clinics and used to sell those to poor patients,” Dr Masood said, adding that the matter had been brought to the hospital authorities’ notice earlier as well.
He said the persons involved had previously been warned of stern action against such practices.
Police have now registered an FIR and seized laptops and computers believed to be relevant to the investigation.
SHO Kulgam confirmed the registration of the case and said the investigation was underway. He said arrests could follow after the investigation establishes the role of those allegedly involved.
The investigation is being conducted to ascertain the exact nature and extent of the alleged irregularities and establish how the OPD tickets were being printed and distributed. [KNT]
