Srinagar, Sep 7: The back lawns of the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) came alive with music and lights on Monday evening as playback singer Rani Hazarika took the stage during the opening celebrations of the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK).
Hazarika added a distinct Kashmiri touch to the evening with her rendition of ‘Salami Wazwaani’, drawing applause from the gathering of filmmakers, actors, artists and cinema enthusiasts.
She shifted gears to popular Bollywood numbers, performing ‘Mahi Ve Mohabbata’ and ‘Zindagi Mein Koi Aaye Na Rabba’, taking the audience through familiar melodies.
Her voice blended with the sounds of Kashmir and Bollywood, with the open-air venue turned into a lively musical space, with lights illuminating the lawns and guests enjoying the performances.
Pertinently, the evening featured live music and band performances, creating a relaxed and festive atmosphere as the four-day film festival got underway. Hazarika’s performance brought together Kashmiri melody and Bollywood nostalgia, adding a musical warmth to the opening celebrations at SKICC. (KNO)
