BRICS condemns Pahalgam attack in Delhi Declaration

Jammu, Sep 12: A Special Court in Jammu has issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed in a militancy-related case, after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) informed the court that the accused is presently in Pakistan.
The warrant was sought by the NIA under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), with the agency describing Saeed as an absconding accused in the case.
According to the investigation agency, the case concerns an alleged network involved in supplying weapons, funds and directions to terror groups operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
The case stems from the arrest of Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat during a checking operation at Pandach on the outskirts of Srinagar earlier this year. A Chinese-made grenade and 15 live rounds and cartridges were allegedly recovered from him, according to the NIA.
The agency has alleged during its investigation that the arrested persons were linked to LeT and its associated network and that further investigation brought the role of Pakistan-based handlers under scrutiny.
The latest warrant is reportedly the second non-bailable warrant issued against Saeed by the Jammu court within two months.
Further legal proceedings in the case are expected to continue as the investigation progresses. [KNT]
