Time to launch “Bhrashtachar Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”: Aijaz Khan

Srinagar, Sep 18: Former President of Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), Social & Political Leader, Aijaz Khan Fridat expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, and the Jammu & Kashmir Police for making the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan a remarkable success across the Union Territory.
He said the campaign has demonstrated that with strong political will and determined leadership, even the most challenging social issues can be effectively addressed.
Asaid that after successfully combating the menace of drugs, the time has now come to launch a similar large-scale campaign against corruption within the bureaucracy. He said that 90% of government employees and officials discharge their duties honestly and sincerely, but the remaining 10% of employees and bureaucrats allegedly involved in corrupt practices have created networks and a parallel system of corruption, severely damaging public faith in governance.
He alleged that certain bureaucrats operate through frontliners and middlemen to collect illegal gratification in the name of transfers, postings, administrative approvals and other official matters. He further alleged that such networks can influence transfers and postings in a manner where junior officials are placed in senior or important positions, while deserving and experienced senior officers are allegedly kept away from positions they are otherwise entitled to hold. He said that such practices not only undermine merit and administrative efficiency but also demoralise honest officers.
He further alleged that fake and inflated bills in construction and development works continue to cause significant losses to the public exchequer, with corrupt networks allegedly facilitating such practices. He urged the administration to thoroughly investigate these networks, including transactions relating to construction bills, development works, transfers and postings, and take strict action against anyone found guilty in accordance with the law.
Aijaz Khan appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to launch a “Bhrashtachar Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan” with the same resolve that made the anti-drug campaign a success. He said that a decisive crackdown on corruption within the bureaucracy would strengthen public confidence, protect honest officials, uphold merit, and ensure that governance remains transparent, accountable and truly people-centric.
