BJP misled Aga Ruhullah, trying to weaken NC: Dy CM

Jammu, Nov 3: BJP national vice-president Ram Madhav on Tuesday said Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, who resigned from the National Conference (NC) and announced his decision to relinquish his Lok Sabha seat, held his Budgam rally with the blessings of “our people”.
Addressing a press conference during his day-long visit to Jammu, Madhav, was asked about Ruhullah’s rally, where the Srinagar MP announced his resignation from the NC and Parliament.
“Aga Ruhullah has the full blessings and support of our people. That is why he held the rally today,” Madhav said.
However, he declined to comment further on the developments within the National Conference, describing them as an internal matter of the ruling party.
“I would not like to comment on the matter, but the National Conference is visibly divided today,” he said.
Aga Ruhullah announced his resignation from the National Conference and his decision to relinquish his Lok Sabha seat, citing differences with the party leadership.
Madhav maintained that the BJP had no role in the NC’s internal affairs and said the party’s leaders were dealing with their own differences.
Asked about speculation surrounding possible political realignments involving disgruntled NC legislators, he declined to speculate, saying the situation would have to unfold before any conclusions could be drawn.
Madhav was in Jammu to address issues related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation about the exercise, he said the Election Commission had already explained the process and its rationale.
He said the revision was aimed at updating electoral rolls by removing duplicate, shifted, deceased and ineligible voters, and alleged that the Opposition was attempting to create unnecessary controversy around the exercise.
The BJP leader also accused the Congress of trying to undermine public confidence in constitutional institutions through what he described as misleading claims about the electoral roll revision process. (KNO)
