Writers are not only those who write. They are those who observe society, understand human emotions, challenge conventional practices and inspire new ways of thinking. They are able to educate whole generations, raise awareness and act as a voice for positive change in society. As an educationist and writer Dr. Vijay Garg has dedicated large parts of his life towards educating, sharing knowledge and raising awareness.
Dr. Vijay Garg is an accomplished writer, educator, educator mentor and public servant having been born on 15 August 1962 in Fatuhi Khera, Punjab. He has an array of qualifications including an M.Sc, B.Sc, B.Ed, and Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics. This gave him a strong base of maths and scientific skills. He has had a long career as a Mathematics Lecturer within the Punjab Education Department spanning almost 20 years. He has also worked as a Principal. After retiring Dr. Garg still continues to engage with education.
Writing as a mission
Dr. Garg sees writing as a mission to educate and inspire others. He has written thousands of articles in English, Hindi and Punjabi for national and international papers, magazines and educational resources.
His work covers a variety of topics including education, science, technology, the environment, societal issues, health awareness, career advice, human values and modern issues. His work always tries to inspire readers to think outside the box and understand how knowledge can impact everyday life.
He has regularly contributed to a publication called Junior Science Refresher. This has enabled him to share scientific concepts with an easy to understand format. He believes that science should not be seen as something reserved for the lab.
Diverse writing
One thing that stands out about Dr. Garg’s writing is how diverse his content is. He believes a writer shouldn’t stick to one topic. He writes articles aimed at students, teachers, parents, policy makers and everyday people.
His writing covers many topics including changes to education, competitive exams, career advice, scientific breakthroughs, protecting the environment, empowering women, developing rural areas, public health and our social responsibilities. He also includes new technologies such as artificial intelligence and how they have impacted education, employment and human life.
He keeps things simple by making complex topics easy to understand for the average reader. He believes knowledge should be shared so it means something.
Vast writing portfolio
Dr. Garg has written over 150 books, including education, science, maths, career advice, competitive exams and general knowledge. The books aim to help make learning easy, practical and fun.
Some of his most well known books include Career Handbook, Most Influential Indian Scientists of All Time, The Hybrid Teacher, Visual Dictionary, From Failure to Success and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Practice Kit.
His books show his passion for creating educational resources for students of all levels. They also highlight his passion for helping rural students and those from economically weaker backgrounds gain access to quality resources.
His book ‘From Failure to Success’ contains an important message. Failure should not be seen as the end of the road. It should be seen as a learning opportunity to improve and move forwards.
Contributions outside of writing
In addition to writing Dr. Garg has created the New National Digital Library. This provides students with digital resources, competitive exam resources, books and academic support. He has also supported those wanting to take exams such as NEET, JEE, UPSC, IAS and Olympiads through academic WhatsApp groups.
He also acts as an Academic Editor for FnBWorld.com.
His contribution to literature was recognised in 2026 with the Surjeet Patra Award.
The philosophy of writing
Dr. Garg believes that a writer should challenge readers to think critically, create a scientific mindset, challenge damaging societal practices and inspire positive change.
He believes that without values education is not complete, without social responsibility science is limited and without practical applications knowledge is not important.
Throughout his writing he often reminds readers that change starts with awareness. Whether it be environmental damage, inequality within education, changing family dynamics, technological advances or human values, he tries to link personal responsibility with positive change.
Continuation of learning
Despite retiring from government work Dr. Vijay Garg has continued to learn, teach and write. He now has more time to fully commit to his literary work, education and awareness.
In a time where we have endless information but struggle to gain true understanding, writers like Dr. Garg help us realise the importance of responsible communication.
His journey shows us that teachers can continue to educate society even after leaving the classroom. Articles can become lessons, books can become guides and thoughtful sentences can inspire someone to change the course of their life.
The true greatness of a writer is not how many articles they have written or books they have written but how many thoughts they have inspired, minds they have enlightened and lives they have positively impacted.
Dr. Vijay Garg’s journey as a writer shows his passion for knowledge, education and social responsibility. His pen is used to educate, his ideas to inspire and his writing to create a more informed, thoughtful and enlightened society.
