Jammu, Nov 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has accorded Administrative Approval for the creation of tourist infrastructure to promote border tourism in Uri at an estimated cost of Rs 7.93 crore.
The comprehensive project envisages infrastructure development across five locations — Uri Town, Bosiyan-Gingal, Mahura, Garkote and Bela Boniyar — with a focus on enhancing tourist facilities and improving the overall visitor experience.
The proposed interventions include the development of tourist huts, facilitation centres, riverfront and scenic parks, viewpoints, trekking paths and public conveniences. The initiative aims to strengthen tourism infrastructure while providing visitors with better facilities to explore the region’s scenic landscapes and natural attractions.
The project is expected to give fresh impetus to tourism-related economic activities in Uri, create livelihood opportunities for local communities and strengthen the area’s potential as an emerging border tourism destination.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed hope that the initiative would enhance Uri’s profile on the tourism map, promote its rich natural heritage and generate new avenues of economic growth for the local population.
