New way to call a shot

Yet again, the Private Schools Association comes up with a statement, asking parents to pay the fee to ensure the survival of the Schools and also claiming that the schools facing financial crunch, can’t expect unpaid teachers to conduct the online classes. This is something that needs to be understood properly as it seems that the schools are mulling to call a shot and curtail the number of teachers in their schools amid the closure of the institutions in wake of the deadly pandemic. One fails to understand how it is difficult for the educational institutions to bear the expenses of the teachers when they are being paid a meagre amount of Rs 3000 to Rs 6000 per month. Is this an amount that can’t be borne by the educational institutions here. One fails to understand why the government is acting as mute spectator in this regard by taking no action against the private schools for not paying a handsome salary to the teachers. It has been a quite long period since the teachers are being exploited. It seems that the private schools are out to do a business and leave the main stakeholders like teachers to lurch at large by failing to ensure a good and preferable salary to them. There is a need to take elaborate and strict measures in this regard to ensure that the jobs of these teachers are not at stake especially during the prevailing situation. There is a need to ensure job security to the teaching community. The government should also consider taking concrete steps to ensure that the teachers are paid a good salary.
