Cashless treatment scheme: Proper implementation can reduce road accident mortality

The fingers are being pointed out on the administration yet again as it has decided to allow the public transport to ply on roads amid the Corona Curfew imposed by the government in Srinagar and ten other districts of Jammu and Kashmir in an order to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading. The lockdown period began at 07 PM in the evening and will continue to remain in force till Monday morning. This is for the second straight week that the lockdown has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two weeks in wake of the spike in the Coronavirus cases. However, one fails to understand when the government has taken measures to prevent the cases, why is it allowing some sectors to work normally, which can add to the number of already increasing cases. There are people who question the decision of allowing the public transport to ply amid lockdown, saying that who will travel in the public transport when the lockdown has been imposed in the districts of Jammu and Kashmir. It seems that the government will be allowing the people to come out of their homes normally during the lockdown period. There was no need to permit the public transport to ply on road amid lockdown as it would definitely allow the people to come out and move from one place to another amid the spike in the COVID-19 cases. The motive behind imposing the lockdown should be achieved; else it would only be mere eyewash. The government must consider taking all the measures especially during the period of three-day lockdown to ensure that the virus is prevented from spreading.
