Bandipora, May 12: In view of the spike in Covid-19 cases, the district administration on Wednesday appealed to people in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district to offer Eid prayers before 7 am.
An official said that the administration has decided and appealed to the people to offer the Eid prayers before seven o’clock in the morning and there will be no Eid congregational prayers across the district.
An official said that the move comes amid a growing number of coronavirus patients in the district.
He said that no congregational prayers shall be held in Eidgah and instead Eid prayers shall be held at local mosques amid strict covid-19 guidelines of social distancing.
The official appealed to people to strictly follow every direction as advised by administration and medical professionals regarding the Eid prayers in view of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad said that the war against the pandemic will be won only by collective efforts and everyone needs to be responsible at this critical juncture.
Dr Owais said the religious leaders, Imams, Khateebs and management committees of local Masjids have a key role during the fresh wave of Covid-19 and appealed to them to use their influence for ensuring every person follows Covid appropriate behavior in and outside the Mosques.
He urged the people to ensure social distancing and use of face masks. He said the people, especially senior citizens with comorbidities should avoid visiting Masjids for their own well-being.
