Srinagar, May 12: Authorities on Wednesday directed the Elementary Teachers Training (ETT) colleges to switch over online mode of education for three months in view of surge in COVID-19 cases.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has said that decision was taken after representatives of ETT colleges providing trainings of Diploma in Elementary Teacher Education (D.EI.Ed) Institutes have approached them with request that they be allowed to conduct online classes.
“In view of the prevailing situation, online classes shall be conducted for a period of minimum 3 months with immediate effect from May-12,” BOSE said.
“In view of current wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the matter was thoroughly discussed and deliberated upon in the meeting and it was resolved that in present circumstances, it would not be possible for the D.EI.Ed institutes to hold regular offline classes and the best possible option would be to allow conduct of online classes by the said institutes,” reads the circular issued by BOSE.
It reads, “All the institutes shall create groups on Zoom or Google meet for the conduct of online classes which shall be recorded and submitted to the Board for scrutiny, as and when demanded by the JKBOSE and the online classes shall be conducted for a period of minimum 3 months with immediate effect from May-12.”
