Bandipora, May 17: Soon after the government appointed a new medical superintendent at the district hospital Bandipora, politics took a centre stage over the appointment.
According to a news agency, last week, Dr. Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad was appointed by the directorate of health services Kashmir as medical superintendent of district hospital Bandipora till further orders following which politics is being played on the government’s decision.
In 2017, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad the then BMO Bandipora was attached to the directorate office after he was found involved for embezzlement of funds in the garb of salary in district hospital Bandipora while a case was also registered against him.
Former minister and vice president of Jammu Kashmir Apni Party Usman Majid expressed his satisfaction and welcomed the decision of the government while former PDP legislator Nizamuddin Bhat opposed the move.
Nizamuddin Bhat while opposing the move tweeted that, “May the Hon lt. Governor, Principal secretary Health see how a tainted Doctor, shifted allegedly from SDH Bandipore on charges of embezzlement has been placed as Medical Supdtt. In the same Hospital today. This raises eyebrows ! @manojsinha_ @JKgrievance @HealthMedicalE1.”
On the other hand Majid said, “I am highly satisfied that LG administration has chosen new Medical Superintendent for DH Bandipora Dr Mushtaq on the basis of good administrative skills and I am very much hopeful that the health care system will grow under his leadership which was in shambles. Manoj Sinha Office of LG, J&K.”
Meanwhile, netizens also expressed their anguish against the appointment of a tainted doctor at MS district hospital Bandipora.
“He was attached two years ago on charges of Embezzlement and Large Scale Bungling. Don’t know how this man will now uplift the Healthcare system of Bandipora, “Nasir Khuehami an activist wrote on twitter following the move.
Aqib, a journalist said that, “because the former one refused to be a pawn of babus and politicians. He is the most honest and dedicated officer that the health department will ever see. Unfortunately, shown the door for doing his best.”
Shafeeq Ahmad Bhat, a local, said just two years ago the same doctor was attached for embezzlement and loot. “How could the same be posted again in the same hospital. It could be more disastrous than relief for the people of Bandipora,” he said.
Notably, Dr Mushtaq was earlier posted as MS JLNM hospital Srinagar, however, the posting was cancelled within few days and he was appointed as MS district hospital Bandipora.
Meanwhile, the appointment order of Dr Mushtaq as MS DH Bandipora was issued by director health who is not a competent authority to issue the appointment order of a medical superintendent. (KNO)
