Budgam, May 18: In a digital India era, the two famous tourist places in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district are still lacking mobile connectivity and ATM services, due to which the visitors always remain disconnected with the rest of the world.
Locals from area said that famous tourist place Yousmarg and Doodpathri has no mobile tower and ATM machine which results tremendous hardships to those who visit the spots.
The residents from Yousmarg blamed the government for being unable to provide the facilities like good network coverage and ATMs.
“Visitors always feel bored here as they complain about telecommunication problems, and lack of other facilities,” they said. “If the tourists here need money, they have to come down 15 kilometres to use an ATM.”
Locals said apart from the tourists, shepherds who visit the place to graze their flock, or employees from forest department or tourism department too face the problems.
Similarly, locals from the Doodpathri area said that the lack of facilities turns tourists away from the destination.
The residents, while appealing to the administration to look into the matter and ensure mobile connectivity is made available at these places, said that none among the outside or local tourist opts to stay for night due to the lack of facilities.
