Sajid Raina

Gurez, May 24: Six years after its completion, Allophathic dispensary building at Barnai Purana-Tulail village of Gurez in North Kashmir is yet to be made functional, residents complained on Monday.
The locals said that the building was under construction for the past nine years and was completed in 2016 but is still not operational for reasons unknown.
Locals said they have no idea as why the government left the building unattended after spending so much money.
“If the government had used this building properly, it would have been very beneficial for us today, but it is unfortunate for us that the government left the abandon, ” Murtaza a local said.
Murtaza said the government should now pay attention to the building and bring it into use as soon as possible so that the people of this remote area would be able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Waseem Ahmad, another local said that though the construction on the building had been completed, it had not been made operational due to the “careless” approach of the concerned departments and the district authorities.
According to official records, the construction of the building was taken up at a cost of Rs 167. 76 lakh in the year 2013 and was completed in 2016 since then the government never used it nor was attention paid to the purpose for which the building was built.
An official said that they have already informed the higher authorities about this matter. However, sub- district magistrate (SDM), Gurez Mudasir Ahmad could not be contacted for the comments as he didn’t respond to the repeated phone and messages on time. (KNO)
