Police arrest trio on charges of ‘gang rape’ in Budgam

Budgam, Jun 2: Police have registered a case against Brick Kiln employees after a non-local labour accused them of raping a woman and illegally confining them in a room for whole night.
The alleged incident has occurred in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Police sources said that a family from Uttar Pradesh had received advance payment from the brick kiln (709) owner for the work they were supposed to do at the brick kiln, however, after receiving the money, the family fled away and started working at other brick kiln in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
They said that the family from Moulana District Muzaffarnagar UP was working in a Brick kiln at Sholipora Budgam to one Ashiq Hussain. The brick kiln owners had already paid advance payment to the said labourer family, but before some days back the family fled away during the night hours from the brick kiln and went to Awantipora where the family was doing labourer work at another brick kiln.
Brick kiln (709) owners received information the fled away labourer namely Dilshad son of Muhamamd Yousuf Malik was working at Awantipora. They went there, allegedly captured them and returned back to Brick Kiln in late hours and stayed at one room office of the brick kiln owners.
The non-local family, however lodged a complaint at Police Station Budgam and claimed that the employees of brick kiln (709) namely Shabir Ahmad, Ashiq Hussain and Ishfaq Ahmad raped one of their woman (wife of Zulufkar) whole night in the office.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, police registered an FIR vide number 149/20 under section 342, 376-D against the accused.
Meanwhile, a police official while confirming this said that the accused have been arrested. (KNT)
