Two 90-year-old men from Shopian who beat deadly pandemic

Srinagar, Jun 11: Two very elderly men belonging to Shopian district have beaten covid-19 safely while remaining steadfast since virus affected them during the first and second wave respectively.
Ghulam Hassan Dar, 90, a resident of Zainapora belt of Shopian was tested positive for Covid-19 during the early initial stage of first wave of Covid-19 and was directly taken to hospital.
Hassan said that after testing positive for Covid-19, he got feared a little bit but what disappointed him was more that their house was locked and male members were quarantined at one place and females at other places.
“My family members were allowed to go home after 14 days and I came back home after recovering from Covid-19 after two weeks,” he said. “I don’t have any underlying problem without blood pressure and despite falling under the vulnerable age group, I have faced the virus and successfully defeated it.”
Similarly, Ghulam Ahmed, another 90-year-old man from Shopian, who was recently tested positive for Covid-19 has beaten Covid-19 successfully.
Ahmed said that he was home isolated on May 1 after being infected with the deadly coronavirus.
“I was having some mild symptoms. I thought my condition would deteriorate as I was falling in the most vulnerable group, however, after remaining in home isolation for a few days, my condition started improving, which gave me confidence to fight Covid,” he recovered.
He said that he lives a disciplined life and works in orchards even in this age and has no underlying problems.
“I survived this deadly disease without much fear, but living in isolation indoors is not an easy thing to face,” Ahmed said, adding that after he recovered well. “Thanks to Almighty, I am working like a young man in orchards.”
