Srinagar, Jun 12: The health authorities have decided to resume elective routine surgeries in non-Covid hospitals in Kashmir division in view of the decline in Covid-19 positive cases across the UT.
The director health services Kashmir in an order, has directed heads of non-Covid hospitals in Kashmir division working under the administrative control of directorate of health services Kashmir to resume elective surgeries, however, all guidelines and standard operating procedures issued by the competent authorities must be adhered to while performing surgeries.
“This is in supersession to this office orders regarding the subject matter. In this context, in the interest of better patient care, it is impressed upon all Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents & Block Medical Officers under the Administrative control of this Directorate to resume conducting of elective routine surgeries in their respective Non-Covid health institutions forthwith in view of the decline in the number of Covid-19 positive cases reported from across Kashmir Division,” reads the order,
It reads that, however, all the necessary precautions, guidelines and standard operating procedures issued by competent authorities from time to time must be adhered to while performing surgeries in the interest of safety of patients as well as healthcare workers.
Notably, all OPDs were closed and non-emergency surgeries were cancelled after steep surge in Covid-19 positive cases and deaths in month of April in the UT.
