Mission Youth to select 2500 students for Competitive Examinations’ coaching

Srinagar, Jun 23: Mission Youth J&K has initiated process to support more than 2500 students every year for undergoing competitive examination coaching to prepare them for competing at national level in various examinations. Mission will also organise special coaching for NEET and JKPSC examinations.
CEO Mission Youth and Secretary to Government, Tribal Affairs Department, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary informed that under this initiative deserving students will be provided scholarship assistance for competitive examinations coaching. This will include UPSC Civil Services Examination, J&K PSC Combined Services Competitive Examination, Judicial Service, Engineering Services and other All India level examinations.
Dr Shahid said that aspirants qualifying preliminary competitive examination shall be provided scholarship/ sponsorship for Mains examination coaching in best institutions with proven track record and having best faculty. Likewise all the students qualifying Mains examination shall also be provided coaching for personality test and interviews.
A mechanism of screening test is being finalised for such students who intend to undergo coaching for Preliminary Examination.
CEO Mission Youth has also sought suggestions from students and competitive examination aspirants for the courses and competitive examinations they want support for. The scheme will take into account such suggestions and will be notified in July 2021. A team of officers has also been constituted for working on criteria for empanelment of coaching centres with a transparent selection process to ensure best institutions are selected for such coaching.
Further, Mission Youth is also contemplating for initiating NEET and other combined examinations for professional courses which will be considered in Phase-II of the scheme. The initiative for capacity building of students to enable them competitive edge at national level will also include training in soft skills, career counselling and customer career assistance.
The selection process will be made based on several criteria for different level examinations and tailored to fit the requirements of such examination. While quantification of preliminary examination is Pre-requisite for selection in Main examination coaching , the selection for Preliminary examination will be made on a host of criteria including qualifying marks , income bar, marks in screening test etc. The Mission is also proposing a set of seats to be reserved for women candidates in all the selection categories / batches.
Mission Youth is also engaging with country’s best online education platforms for providing online coaching to students in different subjects. Remote schools not having internet access are also being considered for special interventions.
OSD Mission Youth, Tabish Saleem and Deputy Director, Mohammad Maqbool have been appointed as Nodal Officers for the flagship scheme to assist aspirants of various competitive examinations.
