The drowning incidents are increasing with each passing day in Jammu and Kashmir. So far, a number of people, especially youth have drowned to death at different places especially river Jhelum and Nallahs here when they were taking bath. A precious life was Saturday saved by the Jammu and Kashmir Policemen at Drang area here when a youth, aged about 20 years drowned at the water body. The cops immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the youth from the water body where the flow of water was too high. The policemen risked their lives and managed to save the youth. This is not an only example of drowning here, but a lot of incidents are taking place almost every day here. Such incidents should be taken into serious consideration and the people at the helm in every district should identify the spots and impose a blanket ban of bathing at these vulnerable places so that the precious lives could be saved. Those who are defying the ban should be properly counselled and their parents should be also called to ensure that their beloved will not visit these spots for bathing purposes for the future. As a society, the religious clerics also have a responsibility to create awareness in this regard and play their role in putting an end to such incidents. The parents at the home should also properly counsel their beloved to help reduce the drowning incidents, which would help in saving the precious lives.
