Stinking roads

Even as the concerned authorities have been claiming high and tall about the beautification of the roads across Srinagar, some roads here continue to witness heaps of garbage, paving way for the street dogs to create fear among the masses. There has been no end to the heaps of garbage that could be seen piling on the roads as the authorities have placed makeshift dustbins there. One such example is at the outside prominent SMHS hospital where the heaps of garbage due to placing of makeshift dustbins could be witnessed almost every day, which has led to an increase in the number of dogs present there. The stinking smell on the roads is already irking the local populace, but the increasing number of dogs is adding to their miseries. The process for beautification of Srinagar has been initiated, but there is a need to come up with different plans and lift such makeshift dustbins so that the situation on the ground is changed at an earliest. The beautification of roads is necessary like the beautification of parks, prominent places and other things. Therefore, it is imperative to come up with a different and proper mechanism so that the local populace could heave a sigh of relief. There is no doubt that the garbage lying on the roads is being lifted every day, but the situation that could be witnessed in the daytime, is irking the passerby, which needs to be addressed.
