The respective district administrations after the gap of some months have finally brought cheer on the faces of tourism players after it decided to reopen the public parks in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere following the decline in the number of daily Covid positive cases in the Union Territory. An announcement was, however, made that nobody will be allowed to enter without face masks as the government stated that it will not lower the guard against the deadly pandemic and will follow the Covid norms in letter and spirit. Soon after the parks were thrown open for the public, the flow of local as well as outside tourists has increased at the public parks. Nonetheless, the people could be seen wearing face masks only while entering into the parks. It has been observed that the people who visit these public parks don’t adhere to the Covid guidelines inside the parks as they don’t even bother to wear face masks after entering into the gardens, thus posing a great threat to the already fragile situation in wake of the ongoing pandemic. As the experts here have predicted third wave of Covid, there is a need to ensure that the visitors are not allowed to violate the Covid related guidelines and that the people should wear the face masks inside the gardens too. The face masks shouldn’t become a tool for getting an entry into the public parks only, but the people should wear the masks inside the gardens too to combat the virus rigorously.
