Baseer Khan reviews arrangements for I-Day celebration in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 28: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Wednesday chaired a meeting to review arrangements for 75th Independence Day celebrations at Civil Secretariat here.
The meeting was attended by District Development Council Chairpersons of all districts of Kashmir division, Director Rural Development, Kashmir, Director Panchayat Raj J&K, Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Bandipora, Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, Budgam, Kupwara and Ganderbal and officers of various departments.
Advisor sensitized the officers about their role and responsibilities in smooth and successful celebration of this national event. He directed them to ensure that all arrangements are made in advance in all the districts. He asked them to devise and adopt detailed micro planning right from the village, panchayat, block, sub-district and district level regarding the activities and programs being organized on the day.
Advisor asked the DDCs, BDCs and PRI members to extend their support and cooperation to the local administrations in timely preparation for successful celebration of the national event.
Advisor emphasized the need for launching vigorous sanitation drives at village, panchayat, block, sub-district and district level with involvement of the community. He asked the concerned for ensuring that no plastic use is allowed during the celebration.
Advisor stressed on creating awareness on Covid Appropriate Behaviour through hoardings at all the celebration venues and asked for carrying out Information Education and Communication activities in this regard. He also asked for further intensifying vaccination drives against Covid in all the districts. He asked the Deputy Commissioners to put in strenuous efforts towards ensuring 100% vaccination in their respective districts and prepare lists of 100% inoculated areas for announcement on the day of Independence.
Advisor stressed on highlighting various Self Employment Schemes and other social security schemes during the event. He said IEC activities informing people about the contents of various schemes should be aggressively done. He also asked for distribution of scholarships and assistance under various social security and welfare schemes on the day.
He asked the officers for displaying hoardings regarding various schemes of NRHM, RDD, Panchayat and other departments at various locations and especially at the places where Independence Day celebrations are to be organized.
Advisor asked for submission of complete list of activities and programmes to be organised and inaugurated to his office within a week’s time. He said at least one work should be inaugurated at every Panchayat on this auspicious day.
Advisor had a brief review from the officers about the arrangements being put in place in their respective jurisdictions for celebration of the national event.
