Budgam, Aug 7: Several villagers are up in arms against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) division for failing to provide drinking water to the areas around the Chadoora Tehsil in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The villagers from Hanjigund, Batpora, Balpora, Wathora said that officials have failed to provide drinking water supply to the villages since a long time.
“We approached the authorities many times in this regard but nothing has been done on the ground,” the residents said.
In a press conference on Saturday, PDP District President Budgam, Mohammed Yaseen Bhat said that several villages are complaining about the non availability of drinking water but authorities are in deep slumber.
“PHE officials are only making false claims about the water availability in the areas around but on the ground villagers are forced to drink and use dirty water. If it continues we will hit the streets soon and the administration will be responsible for that,” he said.
Bhat appealed to the LG administration to look into the matter and provide the pure filtered water so that villagers can have a sigh of relief.
