Kulgam, Aug 9: Under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav,’ the District Youth Services and Sports (DYS&S) Department Kulgam Monday organised an inter district U-19 Volleyball tournament for boys at Sports Stadium here.
The tournament was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat in presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Ghulam Hassan.
As many as 22 volleyball teams from various Higher Secondary Schools shall actively participate in this 3 days Volleyball tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Government is focused to promote and flourish sports and sports culture. He also said that sports activities have a significant impact on the social and mental development of youth adding that games inculcate sportsmanship qualities.
The DC also stressed upon participating players to adhere to Covid related SOPs to avoid spread of Coronavirus infection.
He also appreciated them for maintaining proper social distance during the inaugural ceremony of the tournament.
The DC also appreciated the District Youth Services and Sports Department for organising multifarious sports activities under the banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.
