From words to worlds: The human art of translation

How easily we allow the Covid third wave to attack and affect us like the previous two waves, is quite disturbing. The uncovered faces and an end to the social distancing norm is quite chaotic especially in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. One fails to understand how long the people are supposed to show this carelessness, particularly at a time when the health experts have been continuously predicting the possibility of the third wave. A look at the press statement being issued by the Jammu and Kashmir police, is a clear indication that not only in Srinagar, but the people in other districts too are disobeying the set norms in the broad-daylight, thus paving the way for the virus to affect the society. The statements being issued on daily basis here inform that nearly 2500 people are being fined for violating the Covid related guidelines and norms in Kashmir regularly. The million dollar question remains what action is mandatory for the people, which would ensure that the set norms are followed in spirit. There is a need to stand united by implementing all the defensive guidelines so that the possible third wave is out an end. The people must not show reluctance towards Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and thus the norm violations must be put to an end.
