Education suffers again

The online mode of education has yet again got hampered in Kashmir after the mobile internet services were suspended by the authorities in order to prevent any untoward incident and maintain the law and order. The schools and other educational institutions are closed in Jammu and Kashmir for the last two years after the outbreak of deadly Covid-19, which claimed over 4400 lives in the Union Territory so far and infected thousands of people here. The government has ordered reopening of higher secondary institutions from this month after the 100 per cent vaccination of students and teachers. However, the schools shall remain closed till further orders while the government has claimed that the schools will also be reopened once the situation improves further. Nonetheless, as the online education continues in the Valley, the students have once again suffered here with the suspension of the mobile internet services. Most of the students belong to the downtrodden section of the society and don’t enjoy the broadband facilities here. These students have been pushed to the wall by the suspension of the mobile internet services as they have not been able to attend their online classes for the past three days. The reopening of schools, however, could have ensured unhindered education to the students and thus the government should consider allowing the students to enter schools again so that they could heave a sigh of relief.
