Srinagar, Sep 7: The authorities on Tuesday restored internet in Srinagar and Budgam districts after remaining suspended for six days following the death of Syed Ali Shah Geelani last week.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar while announcing the restoration of the internet services in the central Kashmir districts said he “regret inconvenience caused to students in studies.”
The authorities had restored the services in eight districts of Kashmir on Monday.
Mobile internet was snapped soon after Syed Ali Geelani’s death on evening of September 1.
The authorities had also snapped telephony and broadband internet except lesser-used BSNL services but the services were restored after three days.
Meanwhile, normal life resumed fully across Kashmir Valley as shops and other business establishments opened in downtown Srinagar. (GNS)
