Tral, Sep 8: The subscribers of private telecommunication companies like Jio and Airtel have complained about erratic calling and internet services in several villages of Tral sub division of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Locals from Tral areas that include Bargam, Nagpathri and its adjacent villages of Tral said that the weak signal is giving a tough time to subscribers.
The locals said that both the call connectivity and internet is poor in these areas. “We cannot make any calls even during emergencies. Most of the time, tower signal disappears suddenly, while making a call. The call drops and erratic internet is frequent in the belt due to poor network,” the locals said.
A local said that they were unable to contact nears and dears as every time they dial the number, the network comes either busy, switched off, number says, “does not exist or shows no network coverage,” said aggrieved residents, adding that due to poor network call drops happen frequently.
They said when the world is witnessing 5G internet connectivity, they don’t have basic cellular connectivity to call anybody.
“We usually move to other places to make phone calls as our phones remain out of service, when we stay indoors,” said Nawaz Ahmed, a local. “Our students are also facing problems in the absence of network connectivity. Our relatives also get worried when they are unable to contact us.”
Locals said that they have brought the issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but the situation did not change. The residents appealed to concerned authorities from the government as well as private cellular companies to install towers in their areas, so that they can avail mobile phone network facility with ease.
