Shopian, Sep 30: Even in the 21st century, the residents of Adander Berthipora village of Shopian district are without basic amenities leading to a lot of inconvenience to the locals.
Locals said that despite living just a few kilometres away from district headquarters they have been left estranged by the administration till date.
“Even in the 21st century we have been without basic amenities for the last 50 years. No one from the district administration has visited the village. We believe that they are not even aware that this village exists on the district map,” the locals said.
Asif Hussain, a local resident said that they are living a miserable life as no one comes to mitigate their sufferings.
“Our village has been neglected on all developmental fronts. The area lacks proper road connectivity and potable drinking water supply,” he said.
“We are like adivasi. No one thinks about us. We are treated like animals as no attention is being given towards our village,” said Bilal Ahmad Bhat, another local resident.
“Our children are unable to go to schools due to unavailability of road connectivity while pesky power cuts are frequent in the area,” he said.
Locals said that they have brought the issue in notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
They once again requested higher ups to look into the matter so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
