Rural Development Dept to hire retired engineers for execution of works

Superannuated JEs, AEs, AEEs to be engaged on contractual basis

Srinagar, Oct 1: In a significant move, the Jammu & Kashmir’s Rural Development department has given go-ahead to its directors to hire retired engineers for execution of works.
In an order, the department has authorized its directors to initiate the process of engagement of the retired engineers on contractual basis against the available vacancies of assistant executive engineers (AEEs), assistant engineers (AEs) and junior engineers (JEs) in their respective divisions.
“The contractual engagement of the retired engineers shall be made after inviting applications from the eligible retired engineers by making the advertisement through the electronic/print media to this effect,” read the order.
The department has given its go-ahead to the directors after administrative council of the Union Territory approved the proposal during its meeting held on August 14. The administrative council is the highest- decision making body of the UT and comprises Lieutenant Governor and his advisors, who are exercising ministerial powers.
As per the terms and conditions governing the engagements, the period of contract shall be one year which shall be further extendable in case of satisfactory performance and requirement.
“Contractual engagements are liable to be terminated by the competent authority without assigning any reason, whatsoever, at any time,” the guidelines state.
The guidelines said that the JEs would be entitled to monthly remuneration of Rs 30000, while AEs and AEEs would respectively get Rs 40000 and Rs 45000.
The maximum age limit for the applicants shall be 62 years as on January 1, 2022.
