Killings aftermath: Div Com asks authorities to post migrant employees of Kashmir in ‘safe, secure zones’

Srinagar, Oct 12: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pole on Tuesday asked the concerned authorities to post migrant employees working in Kashmir division at safe and secure zones for a time being.
Pole in a meeting told Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs) of Kashmir division to provide sufficient measures of security for the non-migrant minority population working here.
According to the minutes of meeting available, Pole said, “Migrant minority population including the laborers and skilled laborers in the district shall be identified and adequate measures of security shall be put in place for them, besides, regular interactions be conducted with them so that any apprehension with regard to their security is taken care of.”
“Divisional Commissioner Kashmir impressed upon the officers to preferably post these Migrant employees in safe and secure zones instead of far flung and vulnerable areas for the time being,” it reads.
He said, “In addition to sufficient security arrangements for protected persons, the accommodations shall be decent with all the basic amenities Viz, beds, Bath or washroom, Kitchen, Sanitation, electricity.”
Pole also said that the Municipal Committee concerned shall also undertake the sanitization process of the accommodation. “The government accommodation in the district occupied by any officer or the protected person which is not in active use shall be identified and provided to deserving persons.”
“De-hiring hotels of hotels at Divisional Level and arrangement of accommodation at district level,” he said.
Pole also said, “In the wake of the de-hiring of accommodation in 14 hotels at Srinagar, concerned district administration shall now be solely responsible for the safe and secure accommodation in the district.”
“Whosoever has not yet reported in the district shall be immediately called back by deputy security teams to Srinagar and in this regard SSP Srinagar shall be taken on board,” he said.
