Sedow village in Shopian lacks proper road connectivity, potable water

Locals demand intervention of higher ups

Shopian, Oct 14: The residents of Sedow village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district are suffering as area lacks proper road connectivity, potable water and electricity.
The residents of Sedow area said that despite living just eight kilometres away from district headquarters they have been suffering since decades now in absence of basic facilities.
“Since last seven decades, politicians have only used locals for vote bank and nobody fulfilled our genuine demands due to which people in the area are still living in darkage,” they said.
Mansoor Ahmad, a local resident, said that they are living a very tough life as nobody comes to help them and provide them basic amenities.
“Area has been neglected on all developmental fronts as there is no proper road connectivity, no potable water and even no electricity,” he said.
Shazia a local lady said that even in heavy snow, they are forced to get water from around 2 kms which too is highly contaminated.
“Our children and elders remain often ill by using contaminated water,” she said, adding that even electricity arrangements are such that we have to show candle to see the bulb.
“We are treated like animals as no attention is being given towards our village which has no proper road connectivity, no proper electricity and water facilities,” said Basher Ahmad Bhat another local resident.
Locals said that they have brought this issue in notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
“We once again request higher ups to look into the matter and provide basic facilities to the area so that they can heave a sigh of relief,” they said.
