Srinagar, Oct 15: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested three persons and seized three vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police spokesman in a statement, officers from PS Kakapora in presence of District Magistrate Officer Pulwama, during naka checking at Kandizal Kakapora area seized two tippers and one dumper bearing registration numbers JK13E-1679, JK13E-2147 & JK13E-0301 and arrested three persons involved in extraction and transportation of sand and Bajri.
They have been identified as Shafiq Ahmad Rather of Nehama, Muhammad Shahid Bhat of Lelhar and Abdul Majeed Panjo of Kakapora.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 138/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kakapora and further investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, police urged the people not to indulge in illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. “Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
