Rajouri, Oct 25: Authorities on Monday launched a major rescue operation after two men went missing from snow-bound upper reaches somewhere between Rajouri district and parts of Shopian district.
Officials said that the area is located near some seasonal houses of nomads which are deserted nowadays due to the onset of the early winter season.
“The two missing men have been identified as Mohammad Khadim Shah (38) son of Muzamal Hussain Shah resident of Hassote Chassana in Reasi district and Javed Ahmed Shah (23) son of Mohammad Hanif resident of Targain village of Kotranka tehsil in Rajouri,” Officials said.
They said that the two persons reportedly left for Kashmir’s Shopian district to sell some livestock and were on way from upper reaches when they were last seen. “They, however, went missing thereafter and are not in any contact with family from last four days,” the officials said.
They said that the Police, army and civil authorities from Rajouri and Reasi districts have now launched a major rescue operations in entire area to track duo who possibly could be stuck somewhere in snow clad upper reaches. (KNO)
